I too was utterly appalled at Helen Thomas's vehamence. I think as western, thoughtful people, we tend to believe that people are instrinsically good. But, I think I am realizing more and more that while humanity may BE intrinsically good, most people dont want to be good- they want to be right. And now, being right means hating Israel. I spent the past few weeks defending Israel, the IDF, the Jewish people, history and tradition and all I got for it was less work done, more aggrivation and a slight depression. I know, we can't stop, but I wonder- does it do any good? Those that hate us will just continue to do so. Thanks for your words. I too was utterly appalled at Helen Thomas’s vehamence. I think as western, thoughtful people, we tend to believe that people are instrinsically good. But, I think I am realizing more and more that while humanity may BE intrinsically good, most people dont want to be good- they want to be right.
And now, being right means hating Israel.
